Check Out: Katrina Kaif as 'Chikni Chameli' in Agneepath

After shaking her booty in the chartbuster 'Sheila Ki Jawani', Katrina Kaif is now ready to once again set the screen on fire with her latest item number 'Chikni Chameli' in Karan Johar's home production Agneepath directed by debutant Karan Malhotra. Looking sizzling hot, Katrina has danced like never before in this track choreographed by ace choreographer Ganesh Acharya. Even her co-stars Sanjay Dutt and Hrithik Roshan were left gaping when the saw Kat dance to the beats of 'Chikni Chameli'. The song has a very rustic feel to it and Karan feels its one of the highlights of Agneepath. We are sure this song will be one more reason for fans to flock to the theaters when Agneepath releases on January 26, 2012.

Saif resumes Cocktail as Kareena kic

The weekend gone by saw Kareena Kapoor finally beginning the shoot of Heroine. While Madhur Bhandarkar is definitely heaving a sigh of relief after the initial heart burn he had to go through when Heroine almost came to being shelved, Kareena's beau Saif Ali Khan too has put together his plans in place. "Now that Kareena is busy with Heroine, Saif's plans to complete the shoot for Cocktail have been put in place as well. He has left for Cape Town and would be there for the final schedule that would last for around three weeks. He and Kareena try as much as possible to be together in their spare time and hence whenever their shooting schedules match, it is always an added benefit", informs a common friend of the couple. In any case Cocktail has taken some time to complete and with Agent Vinod already being on for over a year and a half, Saif has been without a bona fide commercial film for quite some time with Aarakshan as his only release. "This should be the last schedule though and Saif doesn't mind the time taken in its making as it is really special for him", says a co-actor, "It's a love story written by Imtiaz Ali and has elements of friendship and betrayal in it. He feels that after Agent Vinod, his next release must be Cocktail." Meanwhile Kareena too is happy plunging into a film like Heroine which adds much more weight to her career when compared to the likes of Ra.One and Bodyguard, both of which were male centric affairs. "All that matters is that Madhur came to me again and I am doing it now because it is a great film", says Kareena. As for Deepika Padukone, leading lady of Cocktail, she is happy to return with Saif after Love Aaj Kal and Aarakshan. She says, "There are some films that forever stay with you as an actor. Cocktail is one of them as it is a beautiful love story. I am looking forward to this last schedule unfold in Cape Town." With the respective schedules of Heroine and Agent Vinod wrapping up by mid-December, guess each of these stars would already be planning one big-n-fat New Year party on their return.

Film marketers are inventing new ways to discover fresh audiences in non-metropolitan towns. The soon to release film starring Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, Tusshar Kapoor and Naseruddin Shah, The Dirty Picture has worked out a specific strategy to promote the film in smaller towns. Of late, smaller towns have become big for the films and film marketers are going with specialist outreach agencies that promote the film in territories beyond the metro cities. So while travelling in the train don't get surprised to see magazine cover on all wheelers stalls across India, sporting the picture of leading actress Vidya Balan on the cover of popular Hindi magazine Manohar Kahaniyan. As the magazine is known for "raunchy" content, the cover only promises the truth behind the film. Hindi filmmakers are fast realizing the importance of promoting their movies differently in non-metropolitan India as multiplexes are fast penetrating B towns. According to industry players, an upward push in the purchasing power of residents in smaller towns has also raised their importance as audiences for filmmakers. The makers of The Dirty Picture are promoting the movie with a regional strategy in non- metropolitan cities and have hired a separate marketing agency Spice Bhasha. "Gone are the days of plain vanilla marketing where you marketed the movie in the top eight metro cities and your job was done. We need to reach out to the consumer beyond the metropolitan cities and make them aware about the movie, that's the reason we have hired Bhasha which specializes in promoting films in non-metropolitan India," said Tanuj Garg, Chief Executive Officer at Balaji Films. He adds that a movie like The Dirty Picture has a universal theme with a mass connect and required to be marketed differently in different regions of the country. Cities like Patna, Lucknow, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Nashik, Nagpur, Pune, Amristar and Barielly among others are now among the new key destinations for film promotions besides the eight metropolitan towns. By putting Vidya Balan on the cover of the magazine, the marketers of The Dirty Picture too are exploring the film's chances of finding and including a new audience.

"There's nothing vulgar about The Dirty Picture"

The first thing I notice when I walk in Tusshar's house is Scarlett Johansson seductively lying on the table. I meet eye to eye with her and then pick her up and start to flip the glossy GQ. What were you thinking? Just then my dear friend Tusshar Kapoor walks in wearing the most relaxed outfit - hoody jumper and track pants. A quick exchange of handshake and hug and he makes himself comfy on his brown leather chair. As far as I can remember, Tusshar was always the underdog in the film fraternity, choosing movies that would either establish and label him as the 'boy next door' or a 'comedian' and then would spring a surprise with the most unpredictable of roles in those genres that you'd think Tussh could've never been a part of. He's got a chameleon type quality to his work. But that's what good actors do, don't they? They have a habit of surprising you, and one such surprise, a pleasant one comes in the form of The Dirty Picture. The actor clearly believes in doing quality work than worry about what genres it is and how people perceive him. Honesty is a product of his humble roots and the star status a product of the family he grew up in, but one thing's certain- he embodies Bollywood's favourite archetype, the strong man with a soft centre. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent meets the man who is eternally addicted to movies and his latest obsession, Vidya 'Silk' Balan. Move on Scarlett, it's time! "We were doing the PR before the shooting began" The Dirty Picture buzz is maddening because we had actually started building up the hype slowly and steadily. We were doing the PR before the shooting began. The title of the movie was hitting the nail on the head types. It was bang on and then came the fact that the story was revolving around the life of Silk Smitha. These two things along with the teaser and poster campaign created quite a frenzy that people will finally see tomorrow when the film is released. Did I forget the song 'Oh La La'? (Laughs). "There are explicit scenes but you will be drawn more by each individual performance" There are some explicit scenes but it's intertwined with the drama. The Dirty Picture doesn't promote and promise sleaze. We've made spicy movies before but we've always got content that's over and above the masala. The masala is just a spicy add on. There's nothing vulgar about The Dirty Picture. There are explicit scenes but more so, it's a drama and a journey of this one woman called Silk and the three men in her life. "Ramakant's progression from being an unsuccessful writer to a confident guy who has come into his own touched me" What I loved about my character Ramakant is that he's a very colourful guy. His progression from being an unsuccessful writer to a confident guy who has come into his own touched me. He keeps discovering himself and evolving. All the humour, anger and romance are all suppressed and it keeps coming out of him in phases of his life. Silk is literally the driving force for Ramakant in the movie and guess what? She even takes him on a proper drive (laughs). He has got lots of shades. He has also got the happiest track in the film where he is rising as a writer and Silk is rising as an actress. Playing Ramakant was a challenging process because I had to maintain the continuity. "There is a portion in the movie where I dirty dance" There is a portion in the movie where I dirty dance in my bedroom. Silk has showered her love on me and it becomes like an outburst. Milan loved it and he decided to shoot it funnily. I think that's why Milan thinks that I am good at comedy. It's a silent scene and it's still funny. That's its USP. "It's easy to fall in love with Silk because she is so confident of who she is" There's a funny line in the film where Silk is trying to trick me by blind folding me and I tell him - Tum mere pe apattijanak haalat to nahi karne waale ho? I burst out laughing while delivering the lines and so did Vidya. It's easy to fall in love with Silk because she is so confident about being who she is that it just radiates that oomph immediately. "If there was an actress who could've played this role other than Vidya, it would've been Rekhaji" I personally feel that no one could've acted Silk the way Vidya Balan has done, and if there was an actress who could've played this role other than Vidya, it has to be Rekhaji. I told this to Vidya and she took it as a compliment. You cannot switch on and off when you play such powerful roles. I believe that Vidya and Rekhaji are the best in the business to play Silk. "For years and years I can now tell people that I worked with Naseeruddin Shah" Working with Naseer saab and sharing screen space with him is absolutely a dream come true. For years and years, I can now tell people that I worked with Nasseruddin Shah. To work with such a personality is like having an extra feather in the cap, not just for me, but for Vidya, Emraan and even Milan as a director. He is so effortless and we as actors have to think before we pause and he just does it with such ease and style that it's remarkable to watch the actor perform. All we do is learn from him seeing him on the sets. For me working with Naseer saab is like calling the movie a memorable movie with commercial value and very few movies have got such a type of branding. "Emraan comes across being this casual guy but he is very serious about his work" I've always believed that Emraan was a great find. He comes across being this casual guy but he is very serious about his work. He rehearses the scenes and he is totally into his characters when he performs. Emraan is a revelation in our industry. "Balaji Motion Pictures have learned from their mistakes in the past and that's our success formula" Balaji Motion Pictures have learned from their mistakes in the past and that's our success formula. As far as television was concerned, Ekta had learned from her own mistakes and became the queen of the small screen back then. But in the movies too we've got the learning curve and have improved with each movie of ours. Ekta is the best producer you will ever have and we are blessed for having her. She has a great penchant for marketing and will make sure her movie is the most talked about movie of that year. She's a go-getter.

'Breaking Dawn' Passes $500 Million Mark Worldwide

 looks to dominate the box office for a good long time. After two weeks atop
 the list of top-grossing movies, the penultimate film in the vampires and werewolves epic has already raked in more than $508 million worldwide. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is the ninth film this year to push past the half-billion mark globally, hitting the mark in just 12 days of release. So far, the movie has grossed $223.4 million in North America and $285 million internationally, for a grand total of $508.4 million. "We couldn't be more pleased with the success of this film and a franchise that the fans have continued to support over the past several years," said Summit Entertainment co-chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger in a statement. "Thank you to all involved with the films from the actors, filmmakers and Stephenie Meyer to the most important group of all, the global fan base that continues to drive a desire for more Edward, Jacob and Bella." MTV News asked experts how long this domination can go on, especially since the only competition this weekend is the NC-17-rated full-frontal indie flick "Shame." "It'll be close between ['Breaking Dawn - Part 1'] and 'The Muppets,' because ['The Muppets'] has much better word of mouth," said Boxoffice.com's Phil Contrino, noting that it was too soon to say which would come out on top. He also predicted that the movie should finish its domestic run in the $300 million range and stay near the top until such holiday blockbusters as "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and "Mission Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" on December 21. Jeremy Renner Calls 'Avengers' Hawkeye Spi

'The best thing about that job was the amazing group of actors I got to know,' Renner tells MTV News of 'Avengers.'By Terri Schwartz Jeremy Renner in "Avengers" Photo: Marvel What did Joss Whedon do to the poor cast of The Avengers to make them withhold every tiny bit of information about the upcoming Marvel superhero flick? He must have one member of each of their families holed up in a barn somewhere to keep the cast members so quiet about the film. In light of whatever threats or penalties of death he placed upon them, at least one star of the film wasn't willing to give too much of the plot away. MTV News caught up with Jeremy Renner recently while he was promoting "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," and he was quick to clam up when "The Avengers" was mentioned. His character Clint Barton, who goes by the alias Hawkeye, is one of the few Avengers who doesn't have any superpowers. When asked what Hawkeye brings to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier table, he wasn't able to tease too much. "A bow and arrow. He's good with it," Renner deadpanned. "I can't give you anything on that one." When asked to elaborate, Renner said he couldn't give any more information. "You know I can't talk about any of that stuff. Yeah, I play Hawkeye. He's got a bow and arrow and he's a badass. That's about all I can say," the actor said. But that doesn't mean Renner isn't afraid to look into the future. While Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and the Hulk all got their moments to shine in stand-alone movies, Hawkeye had to rely on one tiny cameo in "Thor" to introduce him to audiences. So will there ever be a Hawkeye spin-off movie? "I don't know. I think, yeah, there's a possibility for anything," Renner said. "Who's to say? I don't have a crystal ball. I'm not a soothsayer. Check Out: Akshay Kumar on the sets of Rowdy Rathore

Akshay Kumar, who is enjoying the success of his latest film Desi Boyz, has a packed year ahead with as many as 5 films slated for release in 2012. No wonder then that the actor has hardly any time for a break and has once again begun shooting. Akshay was spotted shooting for Rowdy Rathore in Mumbai's Reay Road area. The actor was seen in the get-up of a cop and was filming a fight sequence Rowdy Rathore has Akshay and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. The film is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in association with UTV Motion Pictures and is directed by Prabhudeva. Rowdy Rathore is slated to release on 15th June 2012.

"Ranveer and I have a very different style of working"

Whoever said 'Models can't act' need to seriously have a look at Anushka Sharma's filmography. In her very first film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, she was pitted opposite the biggest superstar Shah Rukh Khan and yet stood out with a spirited performance as the lovable Taani. Since then she has only grown in confidence with films like Badmaash Company, Patiala House and of course Band Baaja Baaraat. In the midst of a crazy schedule at her second home Yash Raj Studios, the gorgeous and supremely talented Anushka Sharma meets up with Bollywood Hungama's Nikhil Ramsubramaniam and gets chatting on her new film Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl, her co-star of two films Ranveer Singh and also sheds some light on the whole media frenzy over her drastic weight loss. Read on… With Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl, you have pretty much the same team which worked together on Band Baaja Baaraat. Did that make working on this a lot easier? I wouldn't say pretty much the same team; it's exactly the same team except for the addition of 3 new girls (Aditi Sharma, Dipannita Sharma and Parineeti Chopra). Yes, the comfort level was much more this time as we all knew each other really well. At the same time, it's a challenge for us as a team to meet the expectations of people especially after a hugely successful and loved film like Band Baaja Baaraat. I play the character of Ishika Desai. She is a girl from Mumbai who is very street-smart and intelligent. She is a sales-girl by profession and can sell anything to anyone and in small and innocent ways she cons people. Tell us a bit about your character in the film? I play the character of Ishika Desai. How she comes across this con-man called Ricky Bahl (Ranveer Singh) who in many ways is a perfect opponent for her forms the crux of the story. You are working again with Ranveer Singh after Band Baaja Baaraat? How was the experience this time around? Ranveer and I have very different styles of working. Earlier we couldn't really understand each other that well so we did have a lot of arguments but now after working in two films, we kind of understand each other really well. This film is a big challenge for Ranveer as he is playing four different characters. He has definitely come a long way since Band Baaja Baaraat. He was fabulous in that film but this film gives him more scope to perform as an actor. The comfort level is far more this time In all your films so far you have been the solo female lead. In Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl, you are sharing screen space with 3 other actresses. Was that a matter of concern at any point of time? No yaar…I pick up films based on the script and my role. If I have a kick-ass script and character, I don't care about anything else. All of us have been cast rightly in the film. In fact Dipannita, Aditi, and Parineeti are all perfectly cast for their respective parts. They are crucial to Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl. Having said that, I have full confidence in my ability as an actor and hence don't worry about whom I am sharing screen space with. I am doing a film with Katrina Kaif who is one of the biggest superstars in the country right now, but as long as I am sure about the script and my role I have no insecurities. 4 out of your 5 films have been with Yash Raj. Must be a homecoming for you yet again with Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl… The experience with Yash Raj Films keeps getting better. If Yash Raj hadn't chosen me for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, I wouldn't have been where I am today. There will always be that gratitude for them. They treat their artists with a lot of respect and love and it's always a pleasure working with such an ethical and professional production house. You know Maneesh since your Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi days. How do you think he has evolved as a filmmaker? Maneesh was an AD on Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. He announced himself in a big way with Band Baaja Baaraat and I honestly feel he is one of the best directors we have in the country. He maybe just one film old but the maturity he has shown is simply amazing. Maneesh always adds special nuances and elevates the script. He understands his characters so well and is absolutely immersed and passionate in his work. Coming to the music of the film, you seem to be having a blast playing cricket, doing the lezhim and dancing like there's no tomorrow in 'Jazba'. Is that your favourite track in the film? Yeah…my favourite tracks are 'Jazba' and 'Thug Le'. I had such a blast shooting for 'Jazba'. It's my first ever solo song so I was doubly excited. Besides the song captures the spirit of the city of Mumbai like never before, be it kids playing cricket, or the local trains or the traditional folk dance (lezhim). I am originally from Bangalore and the city of Mumbai has given me so much that it felt nice to pay a small homage to the spirit of the city in the form of this song. The beats of the song are very catchy and we actually had the famous Nasik Dholwalas playing the Dhol. I also had a very nostalgic time shooting at CST station as one of my first shots ever for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was also taken at the same station. So yes 'Jazba' is a special track in more ways than one and I am glad that people are liking it. In each of your films so far, your styling has been quite unique. Tell us a bit about your look and styling in this film Aki Narula has done my styling in this film. We've worked earlier together in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi where he styled me in a completely different look. He keeps joking with me by saying, "I am impressed how far Taaniji has come" and we keep laughing about it. Styling is something which is important for me, not purely for fashion but to make the character I play look believable. The clothes I am wearing in this film are very casual, a bit bohemian too like the ones you see in the flea markets of Goa. The tops that I am wearing are Lucknowi kurtas which are cut and there is a lot of mix-n-match that you will see in my look in this film. I think Aki has done a fabulous job. Recently there were stories in a certain newspaper which spoke about how you have drastically lost a lot of weight and have almost become anorexic. How do you react to such stories? I was myself shocked when I read the story. The picture was taken at a certain angle because of which my head looked bigger while the rest of the body looked smaller. It's the most unflattering angle to take a picture and before you knew it, the reporter who filed the story had already made his own conclusion that I have become anorexic. I don't think people even understand what Anorexia is. It's a serious mental condition, you are mentally sick if you are anorexic which is why your throw-up time and again. I am very comfortable with the way I look, I have great skin, nice hair and a very good body so there is no reason whatsoever for me to be upset about my body. I love myself and can't succumb to things like these ever. I don't think people even understand what Anorexia is. My next film is Vishal Bhardwaj's Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola which is a dark comedy and I am paired opposite Imran Khan for the first time. Matru is the name of Imran's character, Bijlee is my character name and Mandola is the character played by Pankaj Kapur who happens to be my father. Besides, Mandola is also the name of the small town where the film is set. The film is about the relationship between these 3 main characters set against a political backdrop and has a tone of black comedy to it. I start with the look-tests, script reading workshops etc. after the release of Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl and we start shooting towards the end of December. Post that I have Yashji's film with Shah Rukh and Katrina. I have a lot of respect for Yashji and he is without doubt one of the all-time greatest filmmakers in this country and to be a part of his directorial venture is a great honour for me.

Reflections - 'Why this - fuss about

If you are on this page, chances are almost 100% that you have already heard 'Why this Kolaveri Di?' and have most likely shared it with a friend or two as well. Right from Amitabh Bachchan to Sameera Reddy, the industry is talking about it in unison. 'It is simply fantastic' is a call by majority while 'what's the big deal' is also being whispered around. It is being loved, liked to dislike but certainly not hated and definitely not ignored. No wonder, the song finds itself as a hot topic for this week's 'Reflections'. 8 million hits and still counting 'Why this Kolaveri Di? ' - One can well assume that not more than 25% of those who have seen and heard the song would be really well versed with what does 'Kolaveri Di' actually mean? However, has that really made any difference to the song's fortune? Aah, not at all. Instead it has only added to the intrigue surrounding this song which doesn't even have a quintessential music video accompanying it but instead has a studio setting to it (more about that later). As the piece is being written, I am sure this Dhanush sung track would meet an amazing 10 million mark in a day or two, hence turning out to be a brilliant result for a viral campaign. Rest assured, even the makers wouldn't have imagined in their wildest dreams that 'Why this Kolaveri? ' would actually meet such a tremendous feat in the internet world. Reactions have been varied though Millions are listening to the song which means the song is popular. Period. Still, the fact remains that along with those who have genuinely loved the track, there are others who are left amazed with the kind of popularity that 'Kolaveri' has managed for itself. For every few comments centred on 'this is addictive yaar', there are some who are left wondering 'what's the big deal really?' 'Is it over-hyped?', 'Is it way too simple?', 'Really, you liked it?', 'Come on, how could have liked it?' - all around reactions are being heard for this song which has found it's way into print headlines and news shows as well, hence turning out to be a track which has definitely been noticed by everyone who logs on to an entertainment channel of any kind at least once a day. What really makes it work? In the world we live in today, it is not just the sheer quality of a product which makes it popular, especially when it comes for free. This means that whether it is good or bad, the song is being heard once at the least by most out there. There is a curiosity value surrounding the song and the peer pressure is only adding on to frenzy. It is pretty much akin to a cave age existence for an individual if he hasn't checked out the song so far. Lest someone questions you on the awareness quotient, you are bound to have checked the song and contributed to that (rather expansive) 'elite list' of 8 million hits that 'Kolaveri Di' has enjoyed. There are quite a few inputs that made the song as it sounds today. However the single most factor which is the biggest contributor towards making it THE most talked about song is 'social networking'. If at all one had doubts around this form of media lifting or crushing a product, it is pretty much resolved now with the way 'Kolaveri Di' has managed to make inroads not just into the big cities of India (and abroad) but also smaller towns. Facebook, Twitter, other sharing mediums - the song is all over, hence making it rather impossible for you to have missed the song, unless you have deliberately chosen to ignore it! The presentation As mentioned at the very beginning, the song doesn't even have a bona fide music video to it. Yes, it is obvious though that experimentation was on the minds of makers when they decided to make a video which looked and sounded different from the rest. This means that even though there is still some time to go before one sees a 'film version' of the song, there is Dhanush crooning while enjoying with Shruti Hassan adding to the glamour quotient despite just sitting on a plastic chair. She too is just humming it away, just like millions doing so in front of their computer/mobile screens, but is eye candy no less. The hot debate Is the song fun? Definitely. Is it tremendous? Aah, not really. Is it out of the world? Certainly not. Is it avoidable? Again, certainly not. However all such questions are also emerging because the song has smartly gone viral in no time. After all, this isn't the first time when a song has been released on internet even though the film is still some time way. Just recently 'Main Vaari Jaanva' from Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya too was released on internet and it did find some good audience for itself. However, compare the number of hits that this song featuring Ritesh Deshmukh-Genelia D'Souza has enjoyed with that of 'Kolaveri Di' and the statistics speak for themselves. That song is also good but then it is the 'unfamiliarity' and venturing into an 'unknown territory' with the expression of 'what really is that after all' which is making 'Kolaveri Di' the song that it is today. Herd mentality at play here? Let's also not forget that it is instances like these which bring to fore the adage of herd mentality all over again. Yes, let's give the song its due when it comes to popularity. However let's also not forget the herd mentality at play here. It is simple; when there 10 people in a room admitting to 'loving' the song, you fear being spotted as an odd one out if you make a vociferous comment on the contrary. In case of 'Kolaveri Di', the makers can consider themselves fortunate that majority of feedback is positive. Inarguably, social networking has proven to be a huge advantage here and there are reasons for all involved to celebrate. This could have backfired as well though. Make or break in the age of such viral networking happens during the first two-three days of release. Either you are on or you are out and frankly, a handful of people could well decide that fate as well on the very release of a product. A few thousand people like it, talk about it and spread it and you are 'on'. A few hundred check it and if they are indifferent towards it then the game is almost over. On the other hand, a few thousand people check, largely spread an out and out negative campaign around it and you have a Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag at your disposal. Was I immune to this phenomenon either? Not at all. No wonder, even though 'Kolaveri Di' has nothing to do with 'Bollywood', there is quite some 'Hungama' it has managed to create in this space as well.

"Tukkaa Fitt boasts of great comic content"

For once Vaishali Desai seemed at ease. Finally, after the quiet wait for two years, she has grabbed her second outing titled Tukkaa Fitt. A small budget comic caper that will deliver her big results, she believes. For the past couple of years, she has been enjoying a rare anonymity but that afternoon when she walked in the Costa coffee house, all the heads turned to see the damsel in the dress that surely painted the ambience purple. Her skin as white as milk, her lips red as blood and her hair as dark as night, 'V' carried no vendetta, no vengeance but that face signifying victory. She's wearing black shades protecting her from that sun and those voyeuristic eyes looking from left right and centre from top to toe. Whatever it was, Vaishali Desai looked like a leading lady - porcelain skin, coal black eyes, a beguiling smile - one gets the sense that it is what is going on behind the face that counts. And as I talk to Desai over a hot cuppa Mocha, I start to ponder, for Vaishali believes that it's not the lines that she delivers that are important, it's what exists between them. The actress was wearing confidence on her sleeves because she wasn't running her hands through her hair or stuttering as she tried to express herself - all of the characteristic nervous tics she's often displayed in public since her debut film rocketed her into a frightening orbit of celebrity two years ago. Then I take my last sip from the white cup, stop my dictaphone and see the long legs walk through the glass door and all I was left with was the voice of one head strong woman who, despite being a two film old actress, believed in starting fresh and 'Fitt', and that ain't a 'Tukkaa'. "Tukkaa Fitt boasts of great comic content" I know it's been two years since my debut film released. I don't think it can be termed as a sabbatical. Certain things are meant to happen at a certain time I feel. I guess Tukkaa Fitt is what I was supposed to do. It's not about how much the budget of your movie is now-a-days, it's about the content and I can say that Tukkaa Fitt boasts of a good comic content thanks to Mahaakshay, Rajpal Yadav sir, Mahesh Manjrekar, etc. I chose this film because it's my first rom-com and I am not presented in a glamorous avatar that I was in my debut movie. "It may seem like a misfit but I am not. I am the only girl amongst thirteen guys in the film" I am the only girl amongst thirteen guys in Tukkaa Fitt. I am not a misfit (laughs). Every character in this film ventures out to achieve something in their life and everyone comes out achieving that. When a girl joins an all boy / men cast, the entire concentration falls on the female lead. Not that I am selfish but it's damn difficult to present yourself because you know that once the camera turns to you, you are exclusive and that's the USP of it. "There are lots of expectations from Mahaakshay after Haunted" Mahaakshay has already given a hit called Haunted and there are lots of expectations from him. The market has opened up to him. Yes, Tukkaa Fitt is a different genre for him too. With a hit under his belt plus the performance, it will decide whether Tukkaa Fitt is worth its weight in gold. So far everything is looking excellent and we are in our post production stage with a few songs to be shot. "I've always wanted to be a part of rom-coms because my grand uncle Manmohan Desai loved that genre" I've always wanted to be a part of rom-coms because my grand uncle Manmohan Desai did love that genre, like Parvarish, Amar Akbar Anthony, Naseeb, etc. They were filled with romance, comedy and drama. Tukkaa Fitt has got all that. "Tukkaa Fitt dialogues are very fresh and the humour is day-to-day types" Tukkaa Fitt isn't loud humour. The dialogues are very fresh and new. It's a comedy of errors and the language used is day-to-day types. It's a pleasant comparison but Tukkaa Fitt was mostly shot in Goa and so was Golmaal. Golmaal was a hit at the box office and I hope the same happens with our film. The characters too take it to another level. All the men are doing some insane and crazy comedy. "I am a director's actor and my director Shawn has done an amazing job filming Tukkaa Fitt by bringing in his years of experience" Shawn Arranha, my director has done an amazing job because if you see, every character, big or small, is for a reason and all have got equal footage. He is an experienced director and we all know that. I don't think Shawn has been biased. I am a director's actor and I don't question my director. He is very humorous as a person but at the same time he is very serious. He never cracks a joke while he is shooting the scenes but when a song starts he will crack up. All he says is 'got it'. But Shawn understood the importance of each actor. He gave me a day off when I wasn't feeling well. He would swap scenes with someone else that day. Shawn as a director understands why it's important to make sure the actors are fit for Tukkaa Fitt and never compromised when it came to health issues or personal problems. "I have more romantic scenes with Mahaakshay" My first film will always be close to me because it's my first and same with my co-star Jackky Bhagnani. It was my first film and he was my first co-star. Even with Mahaakshay. We hit it off quite well in the beginning. We had our script reading sessions, dinners, etc. We were just supposed to meet and chat to gel well. I had a great time shooting with him. We knew each other before we ventured on the sets thanks to our dinners and gatherings and reading sessions. But I have more romantic scenes with him than comedy. "Mithunda can't be compared to anyone" Mahaakshay is as romantic as Mithunda? (laughs) Mithunda can't be compared to anyone. He is amazing. That's a wrong question to ask as to who is more romantic. But now that you have asked, let me tell you that I have only romanced Mahaakshay on screen (laughs). Mithunda still remains a mystery (laughs). "Mahaakshay being a prankster didn't play any pranks on me off or on the sets" Mahaakshay is a big prankster and that's what I had heard before I met him but luckily no one played a prank on me off or on the sets. He didn't do anything nor did any other cast members. We just had fun on the sets and because it's a comedy we all anyway had our share of laughs every day.
