Bollywood filmmakers remember Dev Anand

He was the man about whom only positive stories were told. And retold. There have been legendary actors and there will be legendary actors. However, if there is one personality who was pretty much dreaming of making his next film even till his last breath, it was Dev Anand. Though I regret the fact that I could never interact with Dev saab over the years gone by, there is some consolation round the corner with quite a few Bollywood filmmakers describing what the man indeed stood for. Abbas Mustan: He was a legend and the only inspiration for us to join film industry. A great loss. RIP Dev Saab. Anees Bazmee: Firstly it was a shock to hear about this sad news. May his soul rest in peace. Right now I do not have words to describe about this great legend. All I can say is that he was an institution in himself and always on the move. It was Dev saab who blended the Western culture, be it in his films or music. Paying my condolence to this great man, I would conclude in one simple line - 'He was much ahead of his time'. Anil Sharma: Ye waqt sawaal poochne ka nahi hai, unhe yaad karne ka hai. Yaad naa jaaye....jeevan ka naam Dev Anand hai... aur jeevan toh tab tak hai jab tak sansar hai. Atul Agnihotri: Dev Saab was a true star. Original, creative and passionate, he devoted himself in everything that he pursued in life. He will live forever in our hearts. Boney Kapoor: A youthful story ends. R.I.P. David Dhawan: It was Rishi Kapoorji who broke the news to me by calling me at 7AM. Dev saab was a great man who was working till the very end. I have met him quiet a few times and it was lovely interacting with him each time around. Directors of my generation have grown up on his films and songs. Jewel Thief, Johny Mera Naam, Guide, Hare Krishna Hare Rama - who can ever forget such work? I feel that Anand family by itself is an institution. If you watch films made by Dev saab, Vijay Anand and Chetan Anand carefully, then you can become a filmmaker. Ken Ghosh: I feel we should celebrate his life. That's the way he would have wanted us to remember him. Kunal Kohli: An end of an era. Yet again. Madhur Bhandarkar: I remember meeting him on his birthday just a few weeks back on 26th September. It was a moment to cherish and he spoke enthusiastically about cinema and more. His style, personal, dynamism and a debonair conduct can never be forgotten. Milan Luthria: He was a selfless 'guide' to an unthinkable amount of talent. Milap Zaveri: He was a legend who charmed and won hearts of generations. Heaven and its inhabitants are fortunate that he's chosen to now honour them with his presence. Mukesh Bhatt: India has lost its charm. The light, the legend of Indian Film industry has gone. Onir: I met him first as a kid when he came to Bhutan in 1974 for the coronation of the King. My mom's favourite ever hero, he took me with her for a brunch. I remember him as a charming and warm gentleman. My mom was in tears when she told me that her hero was no more. He will always be there as an irreplaceable part of Indian cinema. Ramesh Taurani: It is a sad moment that the evergreen young Dev saab is not with us. I had the privilege of working with him in three films - Awwal Number, Sau Crore and Pyaar Ka Taraana. R.I.P. Suneel Darshan: The life and cinema of the legendary Dev Anand is exemplary. A true inspiration to all those who value dedication, determination & dynamism, his works will keep him alive and be a guiding force for generations to come! Vikram Bhatt: Dev saab was a cord that tied generations of the film world together and held them close. That cord is broken. He made the yesterday into today. Sadly yesterday will now be yesterday.
