As a cop I cant be a baby doll

Kareena Kapoor may just have done wonders with 'Chammak Challo', Katrina Kaif may be the newest 'Chikni Chameli' in town while Vidya Balan is still making hearts go 'Ooh Laa Laa'. However the original 'desi girl' Priyanka Chopra is having none of it and is going against the tide with an out and out formal look in Don 2. While she is breaking the norms of being a conventional beauty on the move in a Hindi film, one wonders whether some more 'latka jhatka' at this stage of her career may have done the trick. "She did a performance oriented film like 7 Khoon Maaf earlier this year that didn't give her much opportunity to take an ultra glamorous route. Now that she is playing a cop in Don 2, she is bearing a sophisticated look. Even though she is going as per the demand of the character, it has been a while since she enticed masses with a sizzling act. Of course it is apparent that she is choosing characterisation over presentation but once in a while, audience love to see her as a 'desi girl'", says an industry insider. Priyanka though claims that she knows what she is doing, especially after being in the industry for eight years. Stating that what she is doing is indeed a conscious call and negating the theory that her look in Don 2 is non-glam, she says with a hearty laugh, "Come on, aisa bhi deglam look nahi hai. I am wearing jeans and a smart shirt along with a holster. Now with such attire, you can't have flying hair, right? It's a different kind of glam. I have always liked the fact that people have come back to me and said that I haven't gone the conventional route. The kind of glam that you state is very passe and old school." Her director Farhan Akhtar too chips in here. He says, "As actors, they have to work their parts rather than always thinking about how audience perceive them to be. You can't have PC dressing up in a very non-character like manner. Come on, she is acting in the film, not modelling." Priyanka has the final word here. She says, "If you look at the song 'Dushman Mera', it does have a glamorous feel to it. However for the rest of the movie, I can't be a baby doll.
